Hekari United FC, now known as Hekari PNG FC, is the most successful football club in Papua New Guinea's history. The club has won an impressive nine National Soccer League (NSL) titles and two National Premier League championships, dominating the domestic football scene for over a decade. Hekari made history in 2010 by becoming the first club from Papua New Guinea—and the entire Pacific Islands region—to win the OFC Champions League, earning a place at the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The club also reached the OFC Champions League final in 2025, showcasing its consistency and strength in the region. Hekari's achievements have set the benchmark for professional football in PNG and inspired the next generation of players through its academy and grassroots programs.
